Inheritance Italian Style Film Review: ‘Delivers on Feel-Good Aspect, and a Bit of Escapism’

This dark comedy is something of an anomaly, because Inheritance, Italian Style is set in Sicily but filmed outside of Atlanta, Georgia, without any Italians in the cast…the film is fun, entertaining, and yes, even thought-provoking. The inheritance is not what you might guess—because the family member whose money is being dispersed isn’t dead yet. This adds a cool twist to the proceedings because it gives mother Mallatta Parlazzi (Dawn Campion) a chance to see how her five daughters will behave when it comes to their inheritance… The characters are broadly drawn, with the majority of the males being sex or/and money-hungry dogs. The interplay between the family of females is more complex, bringing into play what it means to be part of a dysfunctional but loving family… Overall Inheritance, Italian Style delivers on the feel-good comedy aspect, and a bit of escapism
